Pastor John Gerike

Position Title:  Senior Pastor

Main Duties:

Share in leading the congregation in our primary activities of Worship, Learning, Witness, Service, and Fellowship. I do that through preaching, leading worship services, working with staff, council, and other leadership, teaching and sharing in pastoral care, weddings, baptisms & funerals.

Length of Employment with GSLC: 

Became Pastor at Good Shepherd in August 1991.

Immediate family:
Ruth (wife), sons Brent (living in Minneapolis) and Brian (a Junior at Luther College, Decorah, IA).

Where were you raised:  Blue Springs, MO.

Hobbies and "extracurricular" activities:I like playing tennis, golf, and other sports. I also love to sing.

What aspect of your job do you find most satisfying:
"Preaching is something I very much enjoy. I also really like working with the various leaders in the congregation, planning and working toward the future to which God is leading us."

What career path led you to your current position with GSLC:
As I grew up, I never planned to be a pastor, but felt the call to be in some form of ministry during college. After working in youth ministry for a couple of years (after college), I decided to attend seminary and move toward ordained ministry."
