VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

PowerLab Logo

Last year’s VBS had over 70 volunteers who helped to make it such a success. This year will require at least that many. Would you prayerfully consider if this is an opportunity for you to share Christ’s love with the children and guests of Good Shepherd? If so, check out the VBS table in the narthex. There are many positions available from being a guide who takes children from class to class, to being a teacher, to helping in the kitchen.

House of Hope in Haiti is still accepting donations for their girls’ orphanage through the end of May. The donations won’t be shipped until June. Needs are: tuna, peanut butter, warm weather clothing—girl’s sizes 2-12, all kinds of school supplies, and sport supplies (soccer balls, softball bats, gloves, balls). Thank you so much, Bon Zami (Good Friends)!

Volunteers needed during week of May 19-23

The Central States Synod Assembly is being held in St. Louis, June 5-8th at the Renaissance Hotel. To assist the Office of the Bishop, Good Shepherd will be putting together 600 binders for the meetings. Central States Synod in Kansas City will make sure our office has the binders, dividers, paper and the original documents which need to be copied, collated and filed. We are looking for a group of volunteers to assist in this process. We have the entire week of May 19-23 to complete this process. If you are interested in helping out, please call the church office and let Julie or Brenda know. Thanks!

Men’s Retreat 2008

Life Preserver

This year’s Men’s Retreat will be a camping and canoeing outing at Meramec State Park, on September 12-13. We will camp Friday night, with a nice cookout, then canoe in the Meramec River on Saturday. We should be back to the church by late Saturday afternoon. Plan on spiritual discussion, fellowship, and fun. Sign-ups and more details will be coming when the date gets closer, but mark your calendar now. Contact Phil Steinmeyer with questions or comments.

Flood Help

House

A family in Eureka, Missouri has lost their home due to the recent flooding. The home is able to be restored so that they can move in again, which they hope to do soon so that their grandmother can return home there. The grandmother is receiving hospice services and is currently staying with a disabled daughter in the city of St. Louis. If anyone is interested in helping rehab this historic home in Eureka, please contact the Chruch office.
