Community Support

Good Shepherd supports many community events from picnics to grief support groups. Please take a few minutes to view our calendar of events, fellowship and small group areas to learn more about these many opportunities.

Annual Church Picnic
Good Shepherd offers a church picnic every year to invite our neighbors to learn more about our church and to share in fellowship and fun with one another. This potluck afternoon often features games, karaoke, bubbles, crafts and lots and lots of food. An event for all ages, we welcome everyone to take part in this event.

Blood Drives
Blood drives sponsored by the American Red Cross are regularly hosted at Good Shepherd approximately twice a year. Donors must be at least 18 years of age and cannot have donated in the past 8 weeks. Good Shepherd also needs volunteers to assist Red Cross workers during the donation process.

Easter Egg Hunt
To celebrate one of the biggest days in the church year, Good Shepherd starts with a prayer vigil and ends with an Easter Egg Hunt. Our prayer vigil begins during the evening hours of Good Friday. Sunday morning we start the morning right with a breakfast provided by our FLY kids and end our morning services with an Easter Egg hunt.

National Night Out
Every fall, Good Shepherd invites our neighbors to participate in this community enriching event. Meet members of our local police and fire departments who bring along equipment and rescue animals for viewing. Ice cream, popcorn and slushies make this a fun evening for everyone involved.

Preschool Milestones Series
This series is presented by Early Childhood speakers and includes group discussion that provides insight into understanding of the actions of preschoolers (stages, phases, etc.) and what to expect from them at school and at home. It also includes a special emphasis on teaching preschoolers how to pray.

Mastering Middle School Parenting Series
This series is presented to all parents, teachers and youth leaders who are working with middle school children. Some books to review are: "Real Boys-Rescuing Our Sons form the Myths of Boyhood" and "Reviving Ophelia-Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls."

Parents of High Schoolers
This series is presented with speakers and group discussion regarding the challenges of raising high school children, communicating with them, and understanding what they're facing.

Staying on Track with Teens Series
This is a series for parents, teachers, and youth leaders presented by special guest speakers with a focus on identifying the traits and behaviors that teens need to possess in order for them to achieve the calling that God has planned for them.

Talent Night
Talent Night features singers, dancers, musicians, actors and others sharing their various talents for an evening of shared food, fun and fellowship. Participants sign up to share the spotlight, while the audience brings picnic fare to share. Information about dates and time for Talent Night can be found through the church office or on our church calendar.

Trunk or Treat
If the little goblins are looking for a fun way to dress up and grab some goodies, then Trunk or Treat is for them. A family event starting with crafts, photo opportunities, snacks, music, bobbing for apples and games culminates with an exciting candy grab in the parking lot. Adults open the backs of their cars to reveal decorations and hand out candy to all who are taking.

"The Role of Faith and Family in Healthy Kids" is a talk given periodically by Rollie Martinson.
