Library Suggestions - February
February begins our Lenten focus. This season the focus is on prayer, so let us use this as our reading guide for the month.
In the study guide entitled BE CONCERNED, William Wiersbe refers to one key truth to be found in the Minor Prophets - that "in times of moral and spiritual decay, there exists a small group of people whose devotion to the Lord can make a difference in the nation."
He calls these people, "the company of the concerned". They are people truly concerned about the will of the Lord and the character of their country. They are distressed by evil and wanting to do something about the matter. Wiersbe then reminds us that God works in response to believing prayer, based on the Word of God.
So let our reading for this month involve our Bibles, a Bible concordance (found in the reference section of the library or in a religious book store), and an examination of scriptural references to "prayer". Thus we can prepare ourselves for our Lenten focus and take our part in the "company of the concerned", seeking to make a difference in the world in which we live.
For further reading on the subject of prayer, see the Dewey Decimal 242 section of the library.
