January is the month when we make resolutions and think about new beginnings. Do you identify with any of these resolves?
I WANT A VITAL RELATIONSHIP WITH MY LORD:
In the study guide BE CONCERNED, Warren Wiersbe states "The way we respond to God's Word indicates our relationship to the Lord." If God is a vital force in our lives, then His Word should be as necessary as the air we breathe.
Read GENESIS - God's redemption plan begins with his covenant with Abraham.
Read ACTS - The church begins with the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
I'M GOING TO SET ASIDE A QUIET TIME FOR MEDITATION AND PRAYER:
CHRIST IN OUR HOME is a good resource or one of the Dewey Decimal 242 categories. A recent donation to our library is entitled, IN TOUCH, reflections from the Living Bible
I WANT A MORE SIMPLE, STRESSFREE LIFE STYLE:
6 WEEKS TO A SIMPLER LIFESTYLE by Barbara DeGrote-Sorensen. This looks like a good small group study possibility. Check out the poem entitled DEMANDS on page 32.
I WANT TO GET RID OF ALL THOSE HOLIDAY GOODIES THAT ADDED INCHES:
Check out FREE TO BE THIN by Neva Coyle
I WANT TO GET RID OF ALL THOSE HOLIDAY BILLS:
Check out DOLLARS AND SENSE by Mervin Thompson. Some of the financial tables are dated, since this was written in 1989, but much is still applicable today.
I REALLY WANT TO BE A GOOD PARENT:
WORKING MOMS by Miriam Neff and/or HOW TO BE A GOOD DAD can be of help.
The video WITH LOVE AND WISDOM is another good resource intended for new parents.
