Library Suggestions - March

March focuses on heroes, HEROES OF OUR FAITH.

Past Adult Sunday School sessions have focused on Reformations figures Martin Luther and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

It is only natural that we check the library for further information on those who gave so much to enrich and inspire us on our faith journey.

CHRISTIAN HISTORY magazine is also great resource. It can be found on the magazine rack in the library.

Among those featured in past issues of this magazine, have been Augustine, John Hus, Luther, St. Antony, and the Wesley brothers. If you have not picked up an issue to read, try an article or two. You will likely find them interesting reading.

We also have two excellent video resources on the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. MEMORIES AND PERSPECTIVES (black and white) and the A.A.L. color feature of THE LIFE OF BONHOEFFER.

THE HIDING PLACE is known to many of us, but we could invite our children to see this video and the piece of history presented here in the life of Corrie ten Boom.

EXTREME DEVOTION presents stories of ancient and modern day believers who sacrificed everything for Christ. One story presented here is that of Rachel Scott, the Columbine student who witnessed to her faith. A year prior to her death at Columbine High School, she had written in her journal, " I am not going to hide the light that God has put in me. If I have to sacrifice everything, I will". Of such commitment are heroes made.

The Mastering Middle School Parenting series is presented to all parents, teachers and youth leaders who are working with middle school children. Some related books for reference include: Real Boys-Rescuing Our Sons form the Myths of Boyhood and Reviving Ophelia-Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls.
