"Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received."
1 Peter 4:10
Showing faith…through acts and deeds.
God has blessed our congregation in many ways. Our response is shown in a number of ways, as a congregation and as individuals. It is shown through giving of financial resources to support the ongoing operating, program and capital needs of the congregation and through the many various outreach activities encouraged and supported by the congregation. Our blessings in Stewardship are also expressed by the generous donation of the many skills and talents of our members.
41Jesus sat near the money box in the house of God. He
watched the people putting in money. Many of them were rich and gave
much money. 42A poor woman whose husband had died came by and gave two very small pieces of money. 43Jesus called his followers to Him. He said, "For sure, I tell you, this poor woman whose husband had died has given more money than all the others. 44They gave of that which was more than they needed for their own living. She is poor and yet she gave all she had, even what she needed for her own living."
Mark 12:41-44
How Stewardship is conducted at Good Shepherd
Stewardship is a critical part of the mission of Good Shepherd and as such is one of the several ministries whose Team Leader is a member of the Congregation Council. The Team Leader is responsible for planning, staffing of a stewardship team, programming and implementation of the stewardship program and activities. The Team's primary responsibility is to conduct an annual stewardship drive, which provides the financial resources to support ongoing activities and also annually, gives every member an opportunity to make a commitment of hers or his time and talents. The Team also provides input regarding Stewardship focus to the various other ministry teams, such as Evangelism and Worship,
Financial Resources
Members of Good Shepherd are annually given the opportunity to provide an estimate of giving at the time of the Stewardship drive, typically in the fall. Weekly envelopes, identified by a number assigned to each member (family unit), are provided at the beginning of the year for use during the calendar year. As an alternative to the use of weekly envelopes, an automated giving program, “Simply Giving,” offered from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, provides for a periodic direct debit to your account. (click for info on Simply Giving©) Members utilize both methods, depending on their choice. (click for an Estimate of Giving Card).
Spiritual Giving:
Faith through service using talents and skills is an equally important aspect of Stewardship at Good Shepherd. Members share their Faith through service both through support of the needs of the congregation and the many opportunities offered through outreach activities. Members are encouraged to complete the G.I.F.T.S. (Growing in Faith Through Service) form annually to indicate the ministries in which they feel their time and talents can best be utilized to further God’s kingdom.
