Good Shepherd Gets Rocked on Rally Day, Aug. 29, 2010

We invite all ages to join us on Rally Day!  Rally Day celebrations will begin in the sanctuary at the start of the 9:30 service.  After a brief prayer and blessing, we will process to the gym for more Rally Day festivities!

This year we will begin a congregation-wide celebration of faith milestones.  As a congregation, we celebrate many milestones of our youth, such as Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation.  This year we'd like to help you and your family celebrate these special, sacred milestones along with ordinary, daily milestones. 

Feed My Starving Children Packing Event

Good Shepherd Lutheran will, again, be hosting Feed My Starving Children's packing event.

Youth Club Back to School Drive

In cooperation with Circle of Concern, Youth Club youth will be collecting school supplies to help area students in struggling families. Items needed include: backpacks, solar scientific calculators, Fiskar scissors, highlighters, markers, pocket folders, colored pencils, pencil pouches, wide rule filler paper, new 2” 3-ring binders, Post-It notes or gift cards to Wal-Mart or Ta

Middle School Ministry Paint Party/Overnight!

Come to the Middle School Ministry Paint Party/Overnight! Help create a new room designed for our middle school youth ministry programs and have some fun along the way. We’ll paint, plan and propose new uses for Room 147 as part of a revamped look for our Sunday morning and Wednesday evening programming. We’ll throw in food, fun and games as well! 

Feed My Starving Children

OUR GOAL IS TO PACK 200,000 MEALS. We are getting VERY CLOSE to our goal to pack 200,000 meals.  Currently we have $32,300  –but we need $34,000 – so we are short by $1,700!!

House of Hope

Volunteers are  needed to sort clothing for Haiti. House of Hope was blessed with many clothing donations. Prior to shipping them to Haiti, volunteers are needed to sort thru the sizes. House of Hope is now reaching out to some of the Tent City people who live close by supplying food and clothing.

 

Habitat for Humanity

It’s Up! Walls, roof, it’s beginning to look like a house. Next step is the siding as the trades move in to do plumbing and electrical work. Signup to help out.

For a few weeks this summer, we will offer Children's Church during our 9:30 Worship Service.  Children's Church is for children preschool ages through 2nd grade.  We hope to offer families with young children an opportunity to worship together, yet learn about the gospel at their own level of understanding.  This means families can begin worship together in the sanctuary, then c

VBS Registration Starts May 16

This Summer spend awhile on the Nile at Vacation Bible School August 2 - 6 • 9:00am - 12:00pm.  All kids ages 4 - entering 5th grade are invited to join us as we travel back in time to ancient Egypt and journey with Joseph from prison to palace. Along the way we will enjoy fabulous music, exciting stories, fun crafts, delicious snacks, and learn important truths about God and His gifts of: Hope, Special Abilities, Wisdom, Forgiveness, and our Families.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2010 – SAVE THE DATE!

Mark your calendars now for the week of August 2rd, 2010.  All children age 4 through fifth grade are invited to attend this summer’s exciting VBS program:  “Egypt – Joseph’s Journey From Prison to Palace.”  Older kids are encouraged to come and serve as guides, and of course we’ll need lots of adult volunteers as well.

Haiti House of Hope Update

For those interested in helping out @ House of Hope in Haiti, a work team (9) will be going down in April for a week. The group will be patching cement and painting interior walls.  They will tentatively be leaving on April 15th or the 22nd for a week. Costs for airfare and the week's stay is included. Another work team will be going down over Memorial Day for a week.

Bible Studies

Monday Night Bible Study - Summer Session—7:30pm—Room 108—Come join us on July 26, August 9, and August 23. We will study the next Sunday’s lessons.

Men’s Bible Study -  Thursdays at 6:15am at the Winchester Bread Company. We wil be studying Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis.
