The Worship Team at Good Shepherd is responsible for ensuring that the worship portion of the Good Shepherd Lutheran mission statement is implemented effectively. We accomplish this task by reviewing and modifying the various elements of our worship activities to provide a worship experience which both glorifies God and provides our members with a meaningful spiritual service.

Below is a description of the various components of the Worship Team.

Acolytes
Acolytes are responsible for lighting and extinguishing all altar candles before and after church services. Volunteers are needed as leaders and helpers who coordinate training of all youth in grades 5-8 for acolyte and cross bearer duties.

Altar Guild
Altar Guild is made up of church volunteers who prepare the chancel and set up for regular, special and communion services. Volunteers are needed for Saturday set-up, Sunday Communion set-up and clean up after the 11:00 a.m. service.

Lay Assistants
From time to time the need arises for lay assistant leadership in a given worship service. Please call the church office at 636-391-6685 if you are interested in serving in this capacity.

Prayer Chain
The prayer chain at Good Shepherd provides immediate prayer for those who request prayer support. Prayers can be requested through our church office. Our prayer chain is currently 100+ people strong. To join the prayer chain, call the office at 314-391-6685 or email Pastor Tom

Readers/Greeters and Communion Servers
At each worship service, volunteers stand at the entrance to the sanctuary and greet the worshipers as they enter. This helps members get better acquainted with one another and allows us to identify visitors and help them feel welcome in our community. Volunteers read the lessons from the lectern and have the opportunity to help serve Communion when it's observed.

Sound Operators
The sanctuary features a state-of-the-art 24 channel sound system which needs to be operated at each worship service. Sound Operators all assist with various musical teams, special occasions and meetings. Orientation and training are available to those interested.
