Fly Fundraising

While our youth families pay the largest portion of the cost for our summer mission and outreach trips, fundraising and congregational support make them a reality.   With two trips planned for the summer of 2012 and the blessing of a lot of high school youth involved in programs throughout the year, 2011-12 has been a big year of fundraising for high school minstries.  Here's a look at what's coming up!

FLY GARAGE SALE JUNE 1 - 2!   We will begin taking your previously-used treasures on May 20.  You may bring your items to Room 150.   The BIG SORT and pricing fun begins May 29.   We'll need all hands on deck to put this sale on.    Special preview sale from 7-9 pm on Thursday, May 31, for GSLC members.  Join us ... you just might find something you never knew you needed

WALL OF GIVING - our FLY Wall of Giving will be up in the narthex May 13 and 20.   Our youth have labeled 100 envelopes thusly (numbered 1 - 100) and placed them on a wall.  Folks are asked to consider taking one of these envelopes and returning it with the corresponding dollar amount to go toward our summer trips!

GROCERY CARDS - Purchase your Dierbergs or Shop 'n Save cards at the Welcome Center between services each Sunday morning.  Our youth receive $5 for every $100 purchased!

AND ... still ...

Do you have an HP, Lexmark, Xerox, Compaq, Samsung, Kodak, Canon or Apple printer?

If so, you can help! FLY youth have launched a fundraising project with the help of an inkjet recycling company called Empties4Cash (E4C).

Here is what the Empties4Cash program is about:

Most empty inkjet printer cartridges that are usually thrown away can be recycled and remanufactured. Any cartridge with a print head can be recycled, regardless of type or brand (so this excludes Epson cartridges from being recycled as they do not have a print head).

Don't throw away that empty printer cartridge! Bring it to Good Shepherd!

So, to donate your used inkjet printer cartridges:

  • Place them in the original box or a Ziploc bag to prevent leakage/spills
  • Bring in the empty cartridges to church
  • Drop them in the collection box on the shelf outside Beckie Fingland's office (which is next to the mailboxes in the Narthex)

This is an excellent fundraising opportunity as our youth will receive $2.00 for each recycled cartridge. This will directly benefit our Youth Club and FLY programs, not to mention that it is great for the environment.

So, thank you for your support of this fundraising effort!
