Luke 1:46-55
Magnificat

In this Advent message, Pastor Josh reflects on Mary’s song of praise—the Magnificat—and the upside-down way God works in the world. From Elizabeth to Mary, the salvation story begins not with power or perfection, but with women the world overlooked. God steps into imperfect lives and transforms them, lifting up the lowly and working through humility, faithfulness, and courage.

“God loves lifting up the lowly. God delights in celebrating those the world overlooks.”
Mary, once seen as invisible and insignificant, becomes the one through whom God brings salvation into the world. Her declaration—“My soul magnifies the Lord”—reveals a calling for all of us: to make God more visible through lives that build others up rather than compete for the top.

In a culture driven by comparison and hierarchy, this sermon invites us to ask different questions: Who is invisible around us? Who can we lift up? And how might our lives magnify God’s love, joy, and justice this Advent?
