In this week’s message, we meet Jeremiah—the “weeping prophet”—called to speak hard truths during one of the most painful seasons in Judah’s history. Jeremiah’s message challenged not only individual behavior, but the way religious identity, national identity, and power had become dangerously intertwined. His honesty brought resistance, anger, and even violence, yet he could not stay silent: God’s word was “like a burning fire shut up in my bones.”
This sermon explores the courage to both speak and receive hard truths in love. Real love is not blind affirmation or unquestioning loyalty. It is rooted in trust, accountability, repentance, and a desire to build one another up. As followers of Jesus, we are invited to listen to God, speak honestly with compassion, and remain open to the challenging feedback that helps us grow.
